TAKE A LEAF FROM MY BOOK IN BEING GREENER :)
 |
It's now the half way mark, and it has been quite an adventure living with the LEAF for the past 3 weeks!
One of the things I was very excited with when I got the LEAF, was to see how it would complement my mobility agenda of combining private vehicle use with public transportation system. I often take the train when globetrotting, as it serves as a great way for me to photograph, instead of being stuck in a car; but the train is also my choice of transport when I'm home in KL.

'Park & ride' is a policy of mine since I returned to KL, as my work often requires me to travel downtown for meetings & functions. Aside from it being one of my personal policies in line with living more mindfully with the environment in mind, it also makes a lot more sense in dodging KL's infamous traffic & the headache that is parking. This week, I did the same, but with the LEAF :) Combining public transport with the LEAF is perfect - no worries on range as you minimize the distance to travel via the car, by driving to the station, using public transport instead to complete the remaining mileage.
So let me share my experience on the complementary use of LEAF with the public transport system, to address the common worry of EV drivers of 'range anxiety' (the car can |

travel for 160km on a fully charged battery, unlike a tank of petrol which gives you 2.5 times more mileage) & the environmental (cutting down CO2 emissions) agenda. |
 |
A quick calculation on the total cost of travel via both means to travel from my office in Subang Jaya to Hilton in KL Sentral:
1) LEAF park & ride: RM2 for parking + RM3.20 for LRT fare + RM1.92 (24 x 0.08) for LEAF's usage = RM7.12
2) Normal driving in a 1.5L sedan car: RM8 for parking + RM8.16 (48km x RM0.17) for fuel cost = RM16.16
The numbers speak for itself but what's truly awesome is the time saved - on the commute itself, on parking hunting & time can be used on train (to read/surf the Web/play Sudoku or just relaxing, not stuck in traffic!) & much less CO2 emissions :)

Being able to maximize your time, save money AND being mindful in reducing emissions - what's not to love?
In other news, over the past week the LEAFies enjoyed a great session of fun at the Nissan Media Appreciation Night...

continuing to wow those it meets... I look forward to share more with others over the weeks to come - say hi if you see us in town!
