A greenie + Nissan LEAF = LOVE.
How does one feel to be part of something exremely new, bold, revolutionary, with a potential of changing the way we live?
Growing up in a household where my parents have made environmental consciousness a lifestyle, I'm no stranger to living 'green'. Our household is where energy efficiency, recycling, resource conservation has been a norm and it's no coincidence that my career is in renewable energy & sustainable development. I'm one of those who tries to be mindful about my consumption, resource usage & mobility choices (for example, people often ask why do I bother to catch a train when I can just drive!), so I can be responsible to the environment & sustainability living as climate change & resource scarcity becomes more pressing issues in the world.

However, it is also important to note that I am a normal urbanite - busy with juggling career & personal life, utilizing technology & consuming resources as well. This includes driving a car to go about my daily life, for work & play. For most KL-ites,
this unfortunately is an inescapable part of city life as we are forced to rely on cars to get around, as our public transportation system is still being improved as we speak.

So, when I was told that I will be one of the first ambassadors for LEAF - Nissan's first zero-emission passenger car - it was a bit of a dream come true. A little apprehensive, very excited but
most of all, extremely curious - it was hard not to wonder about all the adventures (& challenges!) of living with an electric car which is already part of 27,000 households worldwide for 6 weeks. As an active person, I look forward to having the LEAF accompany me to work, to yoga sessions, to outings with friends & to go about my daily life of running errands.
On the other hand, I look forward to see if technology advancement can truly contribute to sustainable living & emissions avoidance. Efficiency usage of energy of the LEAF, the distance range it can cover, day-to-day usability are all areas which needs to be addressed aside from the greater agenda of saving the environment. Over the next 6 weeks, the energy consumption of the LEAF & how I best utilize the range of 160km per charge would require some mindfulness, ingenuity & hopefully, inspire some paradigm shift in the way I view driving & mobility. It would also be interesting to see how LEAF can complement my mobility agenda of private vehicle use & public transport utilization.

All in all, I can't wait to embark on this journey to zero emission with the LEAF & see what changes & surprises that the combination of technology and mindfulness living can bring. Stay tuned for our adventures in the weeks ahead!"
