| DRIVER AND PASSENGER SRS AIRBAGS | ||
| Dual SRS front air bags as standard equipment protect the driver and front passenger in the event of a frontal collision. Driver and front-passenger air bags inflate immediately when air bag sensors detect that a significant frontal impact is occurring, helping reduce the driver's and front passenger's risk of injury during certain frontal collisions. Unlike some competitive systems, Nissan's air bag system surpasses current Federal requirements for air bag deployment by including a capacitor that is designed to power the air bag system in a crash if the battery fails before air bag deployment occurs. Air bags mounted on the outboard sides of the front seatbacks deploy immediately when air bag sensors detect that a significant side impact is occurring, helping reduce the driver's or front-passenger's risk of injury during certain side-impact collisions. Dual-stage air bags are deployed based on signals gathered from various sensors located on the vehicle. Both 1st- and 2nd-stage inflators will always fire during impact. However, the timing of the second inflator will vary based on the severity of the impact. This helps reduce the risk of injury from air bag deployment.
